British Brunswick 2nd Patt Percussion Rifle: 704 Cal; 30″ barrel with inspection stamps to breech; f to g bore; std front & rear sights & bayonet bar; lock marked VR ROYAL CYPHER TOWER 1847; mellow brass regulation furniture with butt tang marked C over 16; vg profiles & clear markings; soft blue/grey finish to barrel, lock & fittings; vg stock with minor bruising; rhs of butt stamped ¬ over BO & fitted with a hinged brass patchbox containing r.rod jags; complete with swivels, rod, leather sling & correct type sword bayonet marked C over 54 BR, n/s; gwo & vg cond. Dated 1847. Quite possibly one of the 500 Queen Victoria gave to the N.S.W. Volunteers on their formation in 1854.
